March 27th, 2008: Lecture on Gait and Balance Disorders in the Elderly

The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) will present a lecture on gait and balance disorders in the elderly as part of an ongoing collaborative audio-conference series. The lecture will be presented by Sharon Gordon, PsyD on March 27th at 12:00pm PST and will be accessible by telephone from any location (1-800-767-1750; access code 89095).  The lecture will confer one hour of CE credit for physicians, nurses, social workers and psychologists if the audio-conference is attended at a VA site.  Please visit www.ees-learning.net (vaww.ees.aac.va.gov for VA employees) for more information and materials.  This lecture is presented by the VHA Employee Education System, Geriatric Research, Education and Clinical Center (GRECC) and the national Office of Geriatrics and Extended Care.

May 15th, 2008: Senior Injury Prevention Conference - Sacramento, CA

This year the SIPP Conference will be exploring topics that affect all older adults and those who care for them. Medication Use, Foot Health, Driving Safety and Falls are all issues that can be life altering. Potential roles in each topic will be examined. In addition, two Falls Prevention Breakout sessions are offered. The Beginner session will be for people who are new to the field and will offer information and suggestions on getting a Falls Prevention program started. The Advanced Falls Prevention session will delve into expanding and enhancing existing Falls Prevention programs.
